Leicester is above the UK average for new businesses and is the best city in the East Midlands to live and work, according to a new report.
The findings come from the Demos/PwC Good Growth for Cities Index, which ranked 50 of the UK’s biggest cities.
Leicester was placed 16th out of 50. Nottingham was 36th and Derby 24th.
Analysts found Leicester performs well in terms of overall economic growth, including above the UK average in work-life balance, new businesses, transport, skills across all age groups, income distribution and safety.
Areas for improvement are income, affordability of housing and high streets.
