The founder of a Leicestershire MedTech startup, which aims to revolutionise how first responders treat knife crime victims, has been awarded the Global Medical James Dyson Award.

Loughborough University graduate Joseph Bentley won the prize for his innovative device REACT, which is a tool to stem the bleeding from a knife wound.

He said:

“To be recognised in this way by the James Dyson Award is something I have dreamed of for years, but I never thought possible. I want to thank everyone at Dyson and Loughborough University who believed in my project and helped me along this journey”

The founder said that his startup ACT Medical will use the £30k prize fund for prototype development and pre-clinical testing of his invention.
