Leicester-based entrepreneur Jim Johnston has opened reservations for BoomHug, billed as the world’s first “huggable” subwoofer.
The bluetooth enabled pillow-like product is designed to bring deep bass and a more immersive entertainment experience to phones, tablets, laptops and other devices, allowing users to feel movies, music, and entertainment without disturbing anyone nearby.
Jim says his startup combines comfort and tech to create the world’s first “Comfort Immersion” experience.
“As a young teen growing up, I used to have these huge subwoofers in my bedroom. The trouble is it used to drive everyone in the house mad – the windows shaking didn’t help. I just loved the sensation that the impact of bass brought to a movie or song, even though others didn’t quite agree!”.
Interest has already been strong, with more than 1,000 people joining the waitlist during a two-week campaign in spring 2026. Reservations are now open ahead of launch here.
