Leicester COO becomes Regional Employer Champion for Leicestershire

Karl Evans, the Leicester based Chief Operating Officer of EdgePetrol, has taken on a new volunteer role as Regional Employer Champion for Leicestershire with the East Midlands Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (EMAAN).

In his new role, Karl’s focus will be threefold: helping Leicestershire SMEs navigate apprenticeship funding and providers, increasing the local supply of quality apprenticeships, and building a stronger network between employers, stakeholders and training providers across the county.

Karl’s own apprenticeship journey began back in 2003, on Tesco’s Options Management Training Programme, which gave him the confidence to take on his first leadership role at just 19. Since then, he’s seen the impact of vocational investment first-hand, including a decade at Tata Steel UK, and more recently launching EdgePetrol’s own internal apprenticeship scheme, EdgeUniversity.
