Leicester’s entrepreneurial community is being asked for their views on a new centre for social innovation.

Social Innovation People CiC are running the consultation following the conclusion of an accelerator programme designed to empower people from the city who want to tackle a social problem with a novel idea.

Based on discussions amongst accelerator participants and the wider city and county, there is support for the idea of creating a centre for social innovation based on a Canadian model, the Toronto Centre for Social Innovation.

Toronto Centre for Social Innovation defines social innovation “as the creation, development, adoption, and integration of new and renewed concepts, systems, organisations and practices that put people and planet first. At their best, social innovations address root causes and change the very systems resisting change to unlock a better world for all.”

Founders Chris Shaw and Stacey Wragg are keen to replicate this in Leicester and are looking to bring like-minded people together who share their vision and want to contribute.
