The first half of 2025 has seen 21,700 new companies being established in the East Midlands, according to new data.
The New Startup Index H1 2025 suggests a 14% rise in startups being formed in the region from the previous six months.
London leads the charts with 144,000 new startups, followed by the South East (44.9k) and North West (44.2k).
Beauhurst published the report, supported by NatWest Group. It used public records at Companies House as the primary data.
James Holian, Head of Business Banking at NatWest Group said:
“The first half of 2025 has shown that the UK’s entrepreneurial spirit is not only alive but accelerating.
“With over 426,000 new companies established – up from 378,000 in the second half of 2024 – this report highlights the UK’s potential for growth and innovation.”
