The Leicester startup which secured backing on the BBC show Dragon’s Den has been signed up by Google for Startups.
Snowball, described by its founder Simon Sansome as an “advanced version of Tripadvisor for the disabled community”, has been selected by the tech giant to receive tailored technical, product, and leadership training from experts at Google.
Google for Startups offers a wide variety of programs to help startups grow and scale, including an accelerator.
It follows the Markfield entrepreneur’s appearance on national television where he received £80k for 25% of his business from all five of the Dragons combined.
Since his pitch on the BBC Simon says his app has seen tens of thousands of downloads surging it to five in the Apple and Google download charts.
What’s more the founder’s idea of a Snowball accessibility score has been introduced for the first time in the UK at a Santander Work Cafe in Leeds. The rating system provides an easy-to-understand score for inclusive design and support.
Commenting in Startup Magazine, Simon said:
“Being signed up by Google for Startups takes Snowball to another level. What started as an idea in hospital after I became paralysed has now grown into a global movement. With Google’s support, we are accelerating the mission that everyone deserves everywhere.”
