Loughborough founder Kate Alderson’s food allergy app Freeater has been shortlisted for the Captivating Mission category at the SeedLegals Startup Awards 2026.
The category recognises founders whose mission is making a tangible, positive impact on their industry. Freeater helps people with food allergies, coeliac disease and other dietary needs eat out with more confidence.
Kate said the recognition means a huge amount, and that it belongs to everyone who’s helped shape the platform along the way, from users to hospitality partners.
“When I started building Freeater, I wasn’t thinking about awards. I was thinking about the millions of people living with food allergies, coeliac disease and other dietary needs who deserve to eat out with greater confidence. To have our mission recognised in this way means a huge amount.”
Freeater launched in May, going on to feature on BBC East Midlands Today soon after.
