It’s time for another member spotlight! Meet Tobi Obadiah, founder of Flat Harmony, a platform bringing structure and harmony to shared living accommodation. Let’s find out more…

Hey Tobi, what does your startup do exactly?

Our mission is to bring structure, clarity and harmony to every shared living accommodation, by giving residents the tools to manage day-to-day living – creating tasks, managing bills and reporting incidents, as well as a fun environment where residents can bond with one another.

We also give accommodation providers a way to get a sneak peek into flat dynamics, so they can better understand and support their residents.

Where did the idea for Flat Harmony come from?

Flat Harmony was born out of my own personal experience. I lived in shared university accommodation with several students from diverse backgrounds, and I saw firsthand how a lack of structure and unclear expectations can lead to resentment, frustration and avoidable conflicts. I knew there had to be a better way to share living.

What stage are you at?

Our platform is built and ready to go. We’ve already run an initial pilot and we’ve improved the application since. We’re all set to start in September.

We’re currently talking with accommodation providers all over the country, and we’re looking to run pilots with them, offering the platform free for six months.

What can the community help you with?

Right now, the help I’m looking for is introductions – the chance to talk to more of my prospective clients and present Flat Harmony directly to them. Since I’ve started, I know that side of things can be hard, so if anyone can help me get in front of accommodation providers, that would be much appreciated.

What help can you offer other founders?

I have a background in artificial intelligence, including a master’s in AI, and over six years of software engineering experience. If you’re looking for advice on anything AI-related, I’m happy to help and offer my bits of advice in that space.

Why did you join Leicester Startups?

I heard about Leicester Startups via my university, who spoke about what it could help me do in building and developing this product. Through it, I’ve been able to meet other members and get ideas, and the experience has been very good so far.
