AI Tinkerers, a global community for people building with AI, is launching a Leicester chapter, with its first event taking place at Leicester Startups’ home at Canopy.
The chapter is led by Leicester Startups members Hema Kala and Surj Patel. The launch meetup is on Friday 23rd October, 6-8pm, at Canopy, 41 King Street, and is sponsored by Leicester Startups.
AI Tinkerers runs demo-first meetups where people show what they’re building, share what worked and what didn’t, and learn from each other, rather than sitting through long presentations or sales pitches. According to AI Tinkerers, it now has chapters in more than 260 cities worldwide.
Hema said she’d welcome developers, founders, students, entrepreneurs and technologists from across Leicester. That includes anyone working with AI agents, automation, LLMs or apps, and people who are still experimenting.
“Built something interesting? Come and show us. Still learning and experimenting? Come and learn with us. Have a problem you’re trying to solve with AI? Bring it to the community.”
Hema added that the first event is about bringing the local AI community together and starting to shape what the Leicester chapter becomes.
