The Rules of Bite Club
Rule #1: What happens in Bite Club stays in Bite Club.
Share the learning. Protect the vulnerability.
You can talk about what you learned afterwards, but not someone else’s business, problem, idea or personal situation.
Rule #2: No founder theatre.
Leave the polished version at the door.
Nobody needs your highlights reel, growth story or carefully rehearsed “everything’s going brilliantly” update. Tell us what you’re actually wrestling with.
Rule #3: Bring a problem.
Not necessarily a disaster. Just something real.
A decision. A blocker. Something that isn’t working. Something you don’t know. Something another person in the room might help you see differently.
Rule #4: No pitching.
This isn’t Demo Day and nobody came to be sold to.
Talk about your business when it’s relevant, but Bite Club is for solving problems, not collecting leads.
Rule #5: Don’t be a guru.
Share experience, not commandments.
“I tried this…” is usually more useful than “What you need to do is…”. The founder with the problem still gets to decide what happens next.
Rule #6: Everyone gets a bite.
Don’t dominate the table.
Everyone gets a chance to bring something, ask something and contribute something — whether they’ve been running a company for ten years or ten minutes.
Rule #7: Give more than you take.
Listen for where you can help.
An experience, a question, an introduction, a contact, a warning or simply “I’ve been there too” can be incredibly useful.
