A Victorian building in Leicester restored into brand new flexible workspace with an “entrepreneurial spirit” is being hailed as the “future of office space.”
Global workspace provider International Workplace Group (IWG) has opened its first ‘Spaces’ on Guildhall Lane, which are designed to appeal to those looking for a place to work alongside a community of like-minded people.
Spaces boasts many features including all-inclusive co-working, webex-enabled meeting rooms, breakout areas, phone booths, superfast WiFi and more.
The company’s Linkedin post announcing the opening read:
“This is more than a flexible workspace; this is how Leicester will define the next era of office culture.
“Our city’s entrepreneurs, startups, and scaling businesses deserve a platform that rivals the best of London, Manchester, and Birmingham, and now, they have it.”
Mark Dixon, CEO and founder of International Workplace Group, said:
“Leicester is a fantastic place for us to boost our expansion plans. We are very pleased to work with our partners to develop the Spaces brand under a franchise agreement that will add a cutting-edge workspace to their building.
“Our opening in Leicester comes at a time when more and more companies are discovering that flexible and platform working is incredibly popular with employees, improving their work-life balance and satisfaction, while also providing a multitude of benefits to companies. Our workplace model is proven to increase productivity and allows for a business to scale up or down at significantly reduced costs while providing access to thousands of locations.”
Manny Singh, managing director of Celvista, the owner of the building, said:
“We’re proud to bring this once Victorian-era factory back to life on Guildhall Lane, reimagined as a modern, flexible workspace in the heart of Leicester’s historic quarter. Our vision for Spaces Guildhall is to make high-quality workspace and everyday social life more accessible than ever for start-ups, creatives, and growing businesses.
“This is one of our most unique developments to date – blending modern, youthful design with a rich heritage setting, surrounded by artisan cafés, independent restaurants and the energy of Leicester’s city culture right on the doorstep.”
