More than 150 startups have been born by graduates from Leicestershire’s three universities, according to a new report.

De Montfort University is responsible for the vast majority (128) and is in the top 10 universities in the country for most student and graduate startups in 2019/20.

The University of Leicester had 19 graduate startups in that time and Loughborough University had 9.

The numbers come from data released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).

Simon Baines, DMU Works Enterprise manager, said:

“This leap up the national league table which recognises the number of student and graduates being launched through universities is recognition of the huge work our team have put in over the last couple of years.”
