Startups are being asked if they want to take on a free intern for the summer that specialises in industrial mathematical modelling.

The 12-week project carried out by Loughborough University sees MSc Industrial Mathematical Modelling students take on a challenge between mid-June to mid-September.

The ‘challenge’  set by the startup should have good mathematical foundation, which is applied to solve a practical problem within your organisation.

Examples of previous projects include the analysis and design of aerosol impactors, the mathematical modelling of tumour growth, detection of leaks in pipelines by using machine learning, and fault identification in offshore wind turbines.

It is free to host an internship and many Leicestershire businesses from startup to large organisations have taken up the opportunity.
