Understanding innovation processes in start-ups and small businesses in Leicester (with the endorsement from De Montfort University) has the aim to investigate how practices such as design thinking, business design and strategic design can help enterprises to create new strategies to cope with the crisis that currently affect Leicester.

This project is an initiative from a Master student in Design Management and Entrepreneurship from DMU. Although design thinking, business design and strategic design are still a new concept, the research has underpinned the question: How these practices can be explored in start-ups and small businesses to develop a competitive advantage through strategic design?

Throughout evidence for the scenario of innovation, the researcher will be able to develop a framework with the purpose to guide enterprises in Leicester to achieve a better result and build confidence in the uncertainty period of crisis, using innovation.
