The female founders of two tech startups in Leicestershire were amongst the winners of the 2021 LeicestershireLive Women in Business Awards.

Kate Walker of Loughborough-based Exphand Prosthetics won New Business of the Year.

Meanwhile Sophie Hainsworth, who’s the co-founder of Loyal Free, was named Entrepreneur of the Year and took away the Innovation in Business Award too. She said:

“These awards showcased a huge number of impressive and inspirational businesses and people in Leicestershire. It was truly an honour to be amongst all the finalists there and winning 2 awards was great recognition for the work we’ve put into our business. This exposure helps us continue to expand our platform out and help more high street businesses.”

LoyalFree is a mobile phone app which promotes high street businesses through deals, loyalty schemes, competitions and more to over 75,000 users.

Adam Moss, the Leicester, Coventry and Northants editor for LeicestershireLive parent company Reach plc, said:

“We are really proud to support events like this, and I think the enthusiasm of everyone involved shows how much we’ve missed them.

“I know our judges had a tough time picking the winners from such a strong long-list of nominations and I think that is reflected in the quality of all the winners.

“Congratulations to all of them.”
